Launched in November 2004, the Boston Bicycle Planning Initiative, now a project of LivableStreets Alliance, seeks to make Boston a more bicycle-friendly city. BBPI brings together key bicycle advocates, including MassBike, and creating partnerships with other diverse stakeholders, such as WalkBoston. Working together, we can make Boston a more livable city for everyone!

Boston City Council Hearing BBPI coordinated formal testimony at the November 22, 2004 Boston City Council hearing on bicycling. Councilor Maura Hennigan and Councilor Jerry McDermitt jointly called for the hearing to hear testimony for the reinstatement of the Boston Bicycle Coordinator position and for improving safety of bicyclists. BBPI and WalkBoston jointly called for Boston to establish a "Commission on Bicycling and Walking" with a full-time executive director to carry out its mission. Over 100 citizens attended and provided valuable testimony on the need for an improved bicycling environment in Boston.
